Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) wanted to leave the drama, after having been seen as the main character in the beloved fan show The Vampire Diaries.
The famous 2009 teenage The Vampire Diaries came to a close in 2017 after eight glorious seasons. But for only six seasons Nina played Elena Gilbert’s part.
While returning to the final series, her character didn’t appear in the episodes after the sixth season.

The famous Smith series of books of the same name was about Dobrev’s character Elena Gilbert, who lost both her parents in a car accident and eventually got in love of Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) who was a 162-year-old vampire. She also played a role of the baddest bitch a 500 years old vampire Katherine Pierce.
For the first three seasons, Elena dated Stefan Salvatore her fellow doppelganger who the nature has entitled to be together, but from season 4 she began to grow the feelings for Damon, Stefan’s elder brother and both.
Meanwhile, in real life, Nina and Ian fell in love. Nina and Ian agreed to call it quits after dating for three years.
Although many assumed that the actress left for the split, during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Nina revealed her decision.
The actress said she left the show to explore other possibilities in her career. She said that she would no longer play a teenager. “What I want to do is not necessarily what I’m expected to do. I no longer want to play a child. I’m going to play adult roles, I want to be challenged and I work with talented movie-makers and tell incredible things.
