Huawei officially announced that the Huawei P40 series had begun to be shipped overseas. Also keep in mind, they are not coming with Google’s GMS service. Instead, they’re coming with the company’s own HMS service. So instead of Google Play Market, users will use the Huawei AppGallery application store.

It is reported that the Huawei P40 Pro 5G (8GB+256GB) has been the first to be sold in the Japanese market. The price is 108,800 yen, which is about $1013 (excluding tax). As you can see, only one version is provided. By the way, when comparing to the Chinese version that costs 6,488 yuan ($916), the price is a bit more.

However, the configuration is consistent with the Chinese version. Thus, it comes with a 6.58-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2640 x 1200 and the 90Hz refresh rate, Kirin 990 5G chip, Mali-G76 MP16 GPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB UFS 3.0 storage, and 4,200mAh battery with support for wireless charging.

Apart from this, Huawei announced that the P40 Pro+ will be available in Europe and the UK on June 25, priced at 1,399 euros and 1,299 pounds, respectively.

The Huawei P40 Pro+ (Extreme edition) sports a penta-camera module on the back. The main sensor is the 52MP Sony IMX700 CMOS. The rest of the specifications are similar to the P40 Pro.

It features a 6.58-inch Flex OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2640×1200 pixels. The flagship is powered by Kirin 990 5G SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage.

It also rocks an in-display fingerprint sensor, IP68 ratings for water and dust resistance, USB Type-C 3.1 Gen1 port for charging. The phone features a 4200mAh battery with 40W Supercharge and 40W Wireless Huawei SuperCharge support.

Huawei is working hard to build its own HMS ecosystem. According to Yu Chengdong’s previous statement, AppGallery is the third largest app store in the world after Google Play and Apple iOS.

According to official data, the AppGallery app store has more than 400 million monthly active users, and 55,000 apps have been put on the market. At present, HMS has covered 170 countries and regions. But these numbers are going to change soon.

Huawei is negotiating with India’s Indus OS. Its app store App Bazaar is very popular in the local area. It has more than 400,000 applications in more than 12 local languages.
